The Experience

Our Into the Woods session at AVK Miami is a performance-based theatre class where students learn by putting on a live performance. Throughout the session, students train in acting, singing, and dance while rehearsing material inspired by Into the Woods.

Into the Woods is a magical musical with darker, whimsical twists on familiar fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and more. The show offers excellent material for both singers and actors. It’s a great fit for those just starting out and those who want to sharpen their skills.

This program is designed to support both beginners and advanced performers, helping each student grow while contributing to a full ensemble production.

 Auditions & Casting (January 6)

​

Auditions take place on January 6 and are used strictly for role placement.

​

✔️ Every registered student receives a role.
Auditions help us determine which role best fits each student’s strengths, experience, and interests.

We offer two clear tracks, and students should prepare only what applies to them:

🎤 For Students Who Wish to Sing (Musical Theatre Roles)

Students who want to participate in the singing portion of the production must prepare:

• 16 bars (approximately 30 seconds) of a song

• The song must be memorized

• Songs are sung a cappella (no music or tracks)

• The selection should showcase the student’s vocal ability

• Songs may not exceed the time limit

• These singing requirements apply only to students who want singing roles.​

​

🎭 For Students Who Prefer Acting Only

Students who wish to act but not sing:

• Do not need to prepare anything in advance

• Will read from scripts provided during the audition

• Will be considered for acting-only roles

​

We have plenty of roles for strong actors who do not want to sing, and this track is just as valued as musical roles.

What Students Will Work On

Throughout the session, students will:

• Develop acting technique through scene work

• Learn vocal performance and musical storytelling (for singers)

• Build movement and dance skills

• Strengthen ensemble work, focus, and collaboration

• Grow confidence, stage presence, and performance discipline

All instruction is guided by our professional teaching artists and tailored to each age group.

​

Live Performances​

​

The session culminates in two live performances where students share their work with friends and family.

Rehearsal Schedule & Age Groups

 

​Rehearsals are held weekly at our studio:

• Tuesdays: 5:30 – 7:30 PM

• Thursdays: 6:00 – 8:00 PM​

​

Casts are split by age to ensure appropriate pacing and instruction:

• Ages 7–11

• Ages 12–17

​

Who This Program Is For

This session is ideal for:

• Students new to theatre looking for a supportive introduction

• Experienced performers ready to challenge themselves

• Singers, actors, and students still discovering their talents​

Our studio focuses on skill-building, confidence, creativity, and balance, while guiding students through a complete theatrical process from audition to final bow.

Tuition & Payment Information

​

To be considered for final casting, registration must be complete by January 6th.

​

We offer several flexible options:

• Pay in full through our website

• Split payments using Afterpay (at checkout) 

• Financial assistance, discounts, and need-based scholarships (simple application required below)
